Sony Vaio VPC S Series Black Screen Problems

Questions: I have a refurbished Sony Vaio VPC S Series laptop with Windows 7. After powering on the logo shows and just goes to a blank screen with the cursor blinking. When i type the keyboard does nothing. I also cannot boot into the bios or safe mode. Any help please?
Answers: 1. sounds like a corrupt/dead hard drive. The logo (the one that shows VAIO) is BIOS. Uhh... i don't know how the EB series BIOS is, but try mashing F2 or F8 buttons (maybe F12?). There should be some hard drive diagnostics in there.
2. I think you must reflash you BIOS if you have a US/Asia model you could find on the site. PS: try to put something bootable inside like hiren boot cd and see if it works,if does with the bootable CD/DVD/Stick you will be able to repair your VAIO.
